IND is an architecture studio based in both Mumbai and Amsterdam commited to blending modernity with tradition and research with practice across the fields of interiors, architecture and urban design.
Founded in 2015 by Rohan Varma, the name IND (a reference to India, as well as an acronym for India Netherlands Design) pays homage to the two countries that have influenced the work of the studio, and the two locations from where the studio operates. With a base in two continents, our work is always true to its place, but global in thinking.

APPROACH
The work of IND aims to operate at all scales - “from the Chair to the City”. We believe in a cross-disciplinary approach, where different disciplines, issues and scales help foster better ideas and generate critical thinking within the studio. While we undertake work that ranges from residential interiors to larger architecture and urban design projects, we are at the same time commited to working in the social sector to bring good design to where it is needed the most.
Throughout our work, our attempt will always remain to express the genius loci of a place, and be shaped by its climate, culture, materials and people. Architecture is an art, but one that must be poetic and pragmatic all at once.

Although we strive to work across different sectors, our studio is, and will remain small to ensure that each project is personally supervised and crafted to fit its unique needs and requirements.
